BLACK FLAG Extends U.S. Tour, Adds July 20 St. Paul Show to Tour

Definitive, reformed punk legends Black Flag announced a couple weeks ago a major extension of their U.S. tour throughout the western half of the country, but only recently added a St. Paul date on Sunday, July 20 at the Amsterdam Bar & Hall. Support will come from the curious Greg Ginn & The Royal We and Cinema Cinema, and the complete list of new dates for July and August is below.

Look for a review of the Black Flag show a couple weeks ago at the Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis soon! If you missed this show, redeem yourself by going to the one in St. Paul. Tickets are on sale now through Ticketfly.

SUFFOKATE and ABIOTIC Team Up for July U.S. Tour, Play Burnsville July 10

Death/metalcore bands Suffokate and Abiotic will tear across the western U.S. during July with Aegaeon and As They Sleep in tow. The routing includes a stop at The Garage in Burnsville on Thursday, July 10, with Reaping Asmodeia, Roads Of Glass, So Long Orion, Death Punch, Axiom, and Bring Out Your Dead also on the bill. CASTLE Adds Minneapolis to July North American Tour

Doom band Castle from San Francisco has added Minneapolis to their second North American tour to promote their new album, Under Siege. Joining Castle for this run of dates will be current Death Angel drummer Will Carroll. The Minneapolis show is Monday, July 7, and no further information is available at this time.

BUZZCOCKS Announce Short U.S. Tour, Minneapolis Show September 11

Influential UK punk band Buzzcocks have lined up a short run of U.S. dates around their appearances at the Riot Fests in Toronto, Chicago, and Denver, including a newly added date in Minneapolis at the Varsity Theater on Thursday, September 11. Tickets for the Minneapolis show go on sale tomorrow, Friday, June 27 at 10:00 am through Ticketfly.

Concert Review: SEPT OF MEMNON in Minneapolis

Following the end of Wayne Static’s set at the Skyway Theatre, I hopped across the Mississippi River to catch what I could of Sept Of Memnon, a great black metal band hailing from Rock Island, Illinois. Unfortunately, I only caught the last three or four songs, so my comments will be brief.

A small but enthusiastic crowd was gathered around the small stage illuminated only by candlelight as the band raged through the end of their brutal set. The title track of the their debut, self-released EP, They Who Devour God, was among the tunes that I caught. Both band and crowd were headbanging furiously to the buzzsaw riffs and howling screams, yet the drummer managed to hold it all together with some impressive drumwork. These play a no-frills style of black metal and lays waste to most bands playing today. It all ended too quick, and the audience had their wish for an encore granted.

It was a shame I missed most of the show, yet thankful I caught what I did. Head on over Sept Of Memnon’s Bandcamp page to give their EP a listen, and give them more than the dollar they’re asking for a download of the three digital tracks.
