INSOMNIUM Announce North American Headlining Tour with OMNIUM GATHERUM, Minneapolis Concert August 18

Finnish melodic death metal band Insomnium will circle the North American continent for a headlining tour with support from fellow Finns Omnium Gatherum during August and September. The campaign starts August 9 in Montreal at the Heavy Montreal Festival, and ends September 7 back in Quebec in Quebec City. Tuesday, August 18 will be see the tour stop in Minneapolis at the 7th Street Entry with local support from Cold Colours. This is an 18+ show, and tickets are on sale now through etix.

Concert Announcements - October 8, 2013

There wasn't much to report in the way of new concerts last week, but a few things of note have since been announced, so here's a short post with all of the latest.

First, the Halestorm concert at Myth in St. Paul on Friday, December 13 and Eric Burdon & The Animals at the Medina Entertainment Center in Medina on Friday, February 28 that I reported on two weeks ago (here and here) are now both confirmed. Tickets for Halestorm with Pop Evil and Redlight King go on sale this Friday, October 11, but you can get radio presale tickets right now through etix (93X is sponsoring the show). Eric Burdon tickets go on sale this Saturday, October 12 at 10 am through the Medina Entertainment Center - Eric's show earlier this year was nearly sold out, so get your tickets early.


Industrial rock band Filter returns to the area for a show at Pov's 65 in Spring Lake Park on Saturday, November 2 with support from Fight Or Flight (featuring Disturbed guitarist Dan Donegan and drummer Mike Wengren), We As Human, and Wayward Boyz Klub. Advance tickets are on sale now through Vitalculture.


Rock band Wicked Wisdom plays Pov's 65 in Spring Lake Park on Tuesday, November 12 with Better Left Unsaid and B! Get advance tickets through Vitalculture.


Embarking on their first North American tour in their history dating back to the mid-70s, Italian progressive rock band Goblin hits the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis on Saturday, November 30. Opening the show is the mysterious, ambient Relapse recording artist Zombi. Tickets are on sale now through Ticketfly.

Lastly, locals Cold Colours have lined up another show in Minneapolis at Club Underground on Friday, January 31.

Tonight - NINE INCHES NAILS in St. Paul, EARTHEN GRAVE, THE VIBRATORS in Minneapolis

The big concert in town tonight is the opening show of Nine Inch Nails' tour to promote their new album Hesitation Marks with special guest Explosions In The Sky at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. It starts at 8:00, and tickets are still available for $35.50–99.50.


Over in Minneapolis you can catch Chicago doom/thrash band Earthen Grave, which features former Trouble and Novembers Doom bassist Ron Holzner, at Club Underground. Also appearing on the bill is Indianapolis' Devil To Pay and two great local openers: Witchden and Cold Colours. This is a 21+ show that only $5 at the door, and it starts at 8:00.

If classic 70s punk is your thing, you'll want to be at Cause Spirits & Soundbar in Minneapolis tonight for English punk band The Vibrators with Ripsnorter, L'Assassins, Virgin Whore, and Rebel City Rollers. This is a 21+ that starts at 9:00, and it's $10 at the door.

FINNTROLL and BLACKGUARD To Embark On Extensive North American Assault, Play Minneapolis November 14


Finnish folk metal band Finntroll will bring along Canadian special guests Blackguard and Metsatöll for a North American tour that starts November 4 in West Springfield, Virginia and winds up December 9 in Baltimore. The tour includes a stop in Minneapolis at Mill City Nights on Thursday, November 14 with local support from Cold Colours, and tickets are on sale now through AXS.

THE DREAD CREW OF ODDWOOD To Set Sail On North American Tour, Stop In Minneapolis On August 22

Self-described pirate metal band from San Diego The Dread Crew Of Oddwood will embark on a North American tour that lands in Minneapolis at The Nether Bar on Thursday, August 22. Local support will come from Dawn Of Valor, Langers Ball, and Cold Colours. The Dread Crew Of Oddwood has self-released three albums, their most recent being 2012’s Heavy Mahogany. Tickets for the Minneapolis show are on sale now through AXS.

New COLD COLOURS Album Receives Early Digital Release



The new self-titled album from Minneapolis band Cold Colours was released digitally by Sleaszy Rider Records exclusively through the band’s Bandcamp page on April 2. Everyone who purchases the digital release will also receive a physical copy of the CD (postage paid) when it is released in June. You can also stream the entire album for free at the Cold Colours Bandcamp page. Cold Colours was recorded at 14:59 Studios in Minneapolis and mastered by Swedish wizard Dan Swanö at Unisound Studios. The band also recently finished shooting a video on April for “This Devotion” from the new album. 


Cold Colours performs a record release show Saturday, June 15 at Station 4 in St. Paul with support from Avernus, Plague The Stars, and Drona.

Concert Announcements - April 19, 2013


Local thrashers Overstrike play Station 4 in St. Paul on Thursday, April 25 with Solar Slaughter, Raptor Claw, and Plagued Insanity.

Minneapolis thrash band Climactic is having a CD release show for their Zerobudget Records debut album on Sunday, April 28 at the Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis with support from Vessels For Our Ghost (farewell show), We Are Legion, I Am Vengeance, and Earthrise.


Prior to their show at the Girls Got Rhythm Festival on May 10 (below), influential punk band The Avengers will appear at Extreme Noise Records in Minneapolis on Thursday, May 9 for an evening of “record signing, Q & A, music”.


Legendary punk band The Avengers and former singer of The Runaways, Cherie Currie, will headline the Girls Got Rhythm Festival on May 10 and 11 for rare live performances at the Amsterdam Bar and Hall in St. Paul. The Avengers headline Friday, May 10 with Ana Lucia, Gateway District, and Total Trash. Cherie Currie tops the bill Saturday, May 11 alongside Sugar Stems, The ViGNETTES, Marilu And The Machetes, and Is/Is.


The Limp Bizkit show on Tuesday, May 14 at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis is now SOLD OUT.

Kilmore (DJ Chris Kilmore of Incubus) will be doing a DJ show at Studio B of the Skyway Theatre in Minneapolis on Friday, May 17 with support from local phenomenon DJ Abilities.


The Your Demise, Rotting Out, and Expire show on Wednesday, June 5 at First Avenue in Minneapolis has been CANCELED. Your Demise issued a press released announcing cancelation of the North American tour due to circumstances surrounding their planned break up in March 2014.

Minneapolis-based metalcore/thrash band Reaping Asmodeia plays an EP release show at Station 4 in St. Paul on Friday, June 9 with support from Our Judgment, Get The Gun, I Am Vengeance, and Daytripper.


Local industrial metal band Screaming Mechanical Brain plays the What’s Up Lounge in Mankato on Saturday, June 8 with Revilwen, Dead Horse Trauma, and Beautiful Corpse.

Minneapolis-based Cold Colours will play Station 4 in St. Paul on Saturday, June 15 to celebrate the release of their new, self-titled album on Sleaszy Rider Records. Support will comes from Chicago’s Avernus, Minneapolis’s Plague Of Stars (featuring powerhouse vocalist Melissa Ferlaak from Visions Of Atlantis, Echoterra, and Aesma Daeva), and Drona.


Polkadot Cadaver (ex-Dog Fashion Disco) plays Station 4 in St. Paul on Thursday, June 27 with support from One-Eyed Doll, Exotic Animal Petting Zoo, and Nuisance.


As announced here Wednesday, high-flying rap rock band Hollywood Undead plays the Skyway Theatre in Minneapolis on Tuesday, July 2 with support from Pop Evil, 3 Pill Morning, and All Hail The Yeti.


Hard rock band Trapt returns to the area for a show at the Hi 5 Bar in Burnsville on Friday, July 12 as previously reported here Wednesday.

Costumed metal band Green Jellÿ returns to the area for a show at the What’s Up Lounge in Mankato on Thursday, July 18.
