Full Darkness Day Band Schedule Announced, EXHUMED Added to Bill

Exhumed playing way back in August 2000 at the Showcase Theater in Corona, California.

I posted last week that local doom/sludge band Vulgaari would be playing at Surly Brewing's Darkness Day in Brooklyn Center on Saturday, October 26, but no other details were available beyond that. Now, the full band schedule for Darkness Day can be revealed and it's a monster! Joining Vulgaari will be death/gore masters Exhumed alongside Rivers Of Nihil, local shock kings Impaler, God Came From Space, and Fallen Empire. All bands will be playing outside, and here's the itinerary:

11:00–11:30 am - Fallen Empire
12:00–12:30 pm - God Came From Space
1:00-1:30 pm - Rivers Of Nihil
2:00-2:45 pm - Vulgaari
3:15-4:00 pm - Exhumed
4:30-5:15 pm - Impaler

This is the sickest lineup for Darkness Day yet! Exhumed and Rivers Of Nihil will be doing two shows on Saturday - after Darkness Day ends you can head down to Skyway Theater Studio B in Minneapolis to catch them with Dying Fetus.

I'm sad that Powermad will not be playing this year; it could be due to logistics—drummer Dirk Verbeuren happens to be in Soilwork. Surly's Head Brewer and Powermad guitarist Todd Haug also now plays with Vulgaari.

Thanks to Zack from Vulgaari for all of the information! You can see Vulgaari tonight at the Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis as they support English stoner masters Orange Goblin with thrashers Holy Grail and Lazer/Wulf. This is an 18+ show, and Vulgarri goes on first around 7:30.

DYING FETUS Releases Fall North American Tour Dates, Will Play St. Paul October 26

I'm embarrassed to admit that there are a number of posts in my publishing cue that I thought where scheduled to be published but in fact were not. Bear with me as I clear these out and publish them now despite the news being a couple weeks out.

The tour lands in St. Paul at Station 4 on Saturday, October 26. Tickets for the St. Paul show are on sale now through Ticketfly.

From The Vault - EXHUMED

Death metal/grindcore band Exhumed was in town last night with Suffocation, Jungle Rot, Rings Of Saturn, and Adimiron; to mark the occasion here are some pictures of Exhumed back in 2000.

Exhumed live in 2000. Click on any of the pictures to see more photos from this show (14).

These shots were taken August 11, 2000 at the Showcase Theater in Corona, California as part of the Relapse Contamination Tour with Cephalic Carnage and Origin. Exhumed had been through San Diego and Los Angeles earlier in the year as direct support to Mayhem but I missed them both times.

Exhumed pulled out all the stops at the Corona show while promoting Slaughtercult. Following the sets from Origin and Cephalic Carnage, Exhumed took the stage and made an indelible impression on the crowd. Aside from the musical insanity, their show included fire breathing, chainsaws, projectile vomiting, and rivers of fake blood.

I don't know if Exhumed still does this type of show, so drop a line in the comments if you were at the show last night in St. Paul or have seen them on the current tour.

Tonight - SEVENDUST and COAL CHAMBER in Minneapolis, SUFFOCATION in St. Paul

Sevendust performing June 18, 2000 at Cox Arena in San Diego. Click on the picture to see more photos from this show (18).

Coal Chamber performing April 19, 2000 at the Hollywood Palladium. Click on the picture to see more photos from this show (21).

The work week kicks off with two great shows in the area. In Minneapolis, Mill City Nights has a co-headlining show with Sevendust and the reformed Coal Chamber. Supporting the bill is Italy's Lacuna Coil and Candlelight Red. This is an 18+ show that starts at 7:30; tickets are $32 at the door. Check out the recent posts for the review of the latest Sevendust album Black Out The Sun (9/10), audio of Sevendust on July 19, 1997, and From The Vault features of both Sevendust and Coal Chamber with lots of pictures and old concert ads from 1997-2000.

Watch the video for "Decay" from the new Sevendust album Black Out The Sun.

The intensity increases at Station 4 in St. Paul tonight with death metal legends Suffocation performing with support from Exhumed, Jungle Rot, Rings Of Saturn and Adimiron. This is a 16+ show with an early 6:00 start, and it's $25 at the door. Come back later for a From The Vault feature on Exhumed! I haven't had a chance to write a review, but Suffocation has a great new album out on Nuclear Blast, Pinnacle Of Bedlam.

In Concert This Week - April 4, 2013

Incredibly, there’s at least one show every single night this next week so there’s no excuse to not get out to something of interest.

Tomorrow, Friday, April 5, Screaming Mechanical Brain tops a local bill with A Boy And His Dog, The Number Seven, The Disaster Radius, and Trip System at the Forest Lake Teen Center in Forest Lake. This is an all ages show that gets underway early at 4:00. I reviewed the latest Screaming Mechanical Brain album The Policy Of Unilateral Hate here (9/10). Tonight also has American Youth and Burn Fetish playing at The Garage in Burnsville for an all ages show.

Noisy metal crew Today Is The Day brings their mayhem to the Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis with support from Black Tusk, KEN Mode, and Fight Amp on Saturday, April 6.

On Sunday, April 7 metalcore/punk band A Day To Remember performs at Myth in St. Paul with Of Mice & Men and Issues. That same night Bon Jovi plays at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Sevendust and a reformed Coal Chamber play Mill City Nights in Minneapolis with Lacuna Coil and Candlelight Red on Monday, April 8. This is also a night of brutal death metal at Station 4 in St. Paul with Suffocation, Exhumed, Jungle Rot, Rings Of Saturn, and Adimiron.

Tuesday, April 9 is an evening of innovative metalcore with Within The Ruins and The Contortionist co-headlining a bill with I Declare War, Reflections, and City And The Sea at Station 4 in St. Paul. Read the review of the latest album from The Contortionist, Intrinsic here (10/10).

The mighty Clutch returns on Wednesday, April 10 for a show at First Avenue in Minneapolis with Orange Goblin, Lionize, and Scorpion Child. Local stoner/sludge band Witchden plays Cause Spirits & Soundbar in Minneapolis with Gar and Morality Crisis the same night. For those up north, The Contortionist, Within The Ruins, I Declare War, Reflections, and City And The Sea play at Clyde Iron Works in Duluth.

To cap off the week, 80s metal band Faster Pussycat plays Station 4 in St. Paul with local support from Rockfist, The Regenerators, and Mommy Sez No on Thursday, April 11.
